The 2024 PGA Championship began Thursday at the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, marking the fourth time Valhalla hosts the PGA Championship. Xander Schauffele opened with an impressive 9-under 62 to take a three-shot lead into the second round. His round tied for best-ever in a major championship.
Three-time winner Brooks Koepka looks to defend his 2023 title, but Kopeka is far from the only player with a lot on the line.
Jordan Spieth, who has gone more than two years since his last PGA Tour victory, at the 2022 RBC Heritage, is still looking to become just the sixth men's player in history to achieve the career slam. Masters winner Scottie Scheffler, a new father, will look to stay hot after finishing second to Koepka at last year's PGA.
And Tiger Woods, who continues to battle injury issues, arrived at Valhalla on Sunday to hit practice shots and will be on the prowl for his first PGA Championship win since 2007.
